Tragic Audi driver killed in wrong-way M62 horror crash with lorry is named and pictured locally
A man who was killed in a crash on the M62 this morning has been named and picture locally.
In the early hours of this morning (March 9), a driver was killed in a crash on the M62 near Lofthouse. West Yorkshire Police, along with the fire and ambulance services, attended the scene which took place near to junction 29 at 3.30am[1].
A white Audi A3 was travelling down the wrong side of the motorway when it crashed into a Renault HGV and the driver of the Audi was confirmed dead at the scene.
However, the man who died in the crash has now been named locally as Shahid Ali, a 37-year-old from Bradford. He has also been pictured.

The M62 remains shut in the eastbound direction as a result of the crash so the police can continue their investigation. As a result there is currently congestion to junction 28 at Tingley.
Inrix, the traffic management system, said: “M62 Eastbound closed, queueing traffic due to accident investigation work at J29 M1 J42 (Lofthouse). Congestion to J28 Tingley.
“The road has reopened at J28 but J29 is still closed for resurfacing with traffic being diverted via the entry and exit slip.”
