A390 in Cornwall closed into the night after person hit by car

The A390 is likely to remain closed into the night after a pedestrian was struck by a car, an eyewitness has said. The road has been closed in both directions near Penpillick since around 5pm today (Thursday, April 25) after a person was hit.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police[1] said one person has suffered serious injuries[2]. Officers remain at the scene this evening, though an eyewitness said they saw ambulances driving away from the road.

Witnesses added that they had been told by a police officer in the area that the road is likely to stay closed into tomorrow. A spokesperson for the force told CornwallLive the road will be closed for 'many hours' and drivers have been urged to take alternate routes and avoid the area.
