A515: Two people freed after VW Polo car crashed into telegraph pole on main Derbyshire road
Two people were trapped after the VW Polo car they were travelling in crashed into a telegraph pole on a busy Derbyshire road. Emergency services were called to the scene on the A515 between Cubley Lane and the B5033 Cockshead Lane turning at Darley Moor earlier today (Tuesday, April 9).[1][2]
The police say they were first alerted to the incident at around 10.35am. The road was closed in both directions and drivers were advised to find an alternative route.
The car driver and a passenger were freed by the fire service. They were checked over but no serious injuries were sustained, according to a police spokesman.

The spokesman said: “The road was reopened on one side, allowing some traffic through at about 12.45pm. Although, the occupants of the car had been freed, emergency services stayed at the scene to enable the vehicle to be recovered. The two people were checked and there were no serious injuries and they were able to leave the scene.
“Once the vehicle was recovered an assessment of the telegraph pole was carried out, which was found to be damaged and it was decided that temporary traffic lights would be put in place to allow the telegraph pole to be dealt with and to reduce the amount of traffic passing the scene.”
The incident had been cleared by about 2.30pm, having been closed or partially closed[4] for more than three hours.
Part of the A515 north of Ashbourne was also closed on Monday following another accident.[5] A three-kilometre stretch of road from Green Lane to the Rakes Lane junction was closed for about six hours and was finally reopened at about 7pm.
No information about the incident, or if there were injuries, has been released, although it is understood that a lorry was involved.
