A63 ‘gridlocked’ westbound as car and lorry in collision

An HGV and a car have crashed on the A63 which was closed westbound for around 45 minutes this morning.

Drivers caught in the traffic[1] say it is “gridlocked” and claimed the emergency services have had to drive over the rubble through the roadworks to get to the scene because the road was completely blocked. Humberside Police and Yorkshire Ambulance Service are now in attendance.

The traffic reporting service Inrix said: “Long delays due to earlier accident on A63 Hessle Road Westbound between A1165 Great Union Street (Roger Millward Way roundabout) and Commercial Road. Congestion to Main routes through the city centre, Southcoates roundabout. Note change of location. All lanes have been re-opened.”

Posting on Twitter, Humberside Police said earlier: “Please be aware of a road closure on the A63 in Hull travelling Westbound. Please avoid the area.”
