Dramatic photos show overturned lorry on A52 near Grantham after crash

A lorry driver lost control of their vehicle before it overturned into some trees on a major Lincolnshire road. Police[1] were called to the scene of the incident, which took place on the A52 near Grantham[2] on Sunday, April 28.

The road was closed for several hours between the A46 at Saxondale and the A1 at Grantham while recovery took place. Nobody was seriously injured as a result of the crash, which was first reported at around 1.48pm.

National Highways East Midlands confirmed that the road had reopened just after 7pm. Pictures show officers at the scene while a recovery vehicle attempts to lift the lorry out of the trees.

At the time, a spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: "The driver of an HGV has lost control and the vehicle, a Volvo, has come to rest on its side. There are no reports of anyone seriously injured."

The incident caused some disruption for motorists in the area with diversion routes put in place throughout.
