Live: A50 closed as crash flips caravan

Motorists are being warned of two-mile queues on the A50[1] after a caravan overturned in a crash. Police are currently at the scene of the collision on the eastbound side of the dual carriageway close to the McDonald’s roundabout at Uttoxeter.

National Highways East Midlands says: “The A50 eastbound is closed between B5030 and the A518 near Uttoxeter. An overturned caravan is being recovered our traffic officers are at scene with police and recovery team. Two miles of congestion on the approach, approximately 20 minute delays.”

The crash was first reported at 4.30pm. Traffic monitoring site Inrix reports: “A50 eastbound closed, queueing traffic due to overturned vehicle between B5030 Ashbourne Road (McDonalds roundabout) and A518 Derby Road (Water Bridge roundabout). The road is closed following an accident.”
