Man dies after A47 crash that left road closed for most of the day

A man in his 30’s has died following a crash on a major A-road road near the Cambridgeshire[1] border.. The incident took place on the A47 in Norfolk around 10.12am on Monday (April 1).

Emergency services, including police, fire, ambulance and the air ambulance, were called to the crash in Terrington St John, Norfolk. The incident involved a grey Suzuki Jimny and a white Mercedes HGV.

The driver of the Suzuki was pronounced dead at the scene. The road was closed throughout the day, before reopening at around 5.15pm.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “”We were called just before 10.15am on Monday 1 April 2024 to a road traffic collision involving a Suzuki Jimmy and a lorry on the A47 in Terrington St John. Two ambulances, an ambulance officer vehicle, two vehicles from the Norfolk Accident Rescue Service (NARS) and the East Anglian Air Ambulance were sent to the scene. Sadly, the driver of the Suzuki Jimmy, an adult man, was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Norfolk Police has urged anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has any dashcam footage to get in touch with the force via phone, email or their website, quoting NC-01042024-86. Alternatively, they can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
