Man dies after being hit by lorry on M57

A section of the M57 is closed in both directions after a man was hit by a lorry.

The man, aged 48, died after the incident on the motorway in the early hours of Saturday.

North West Motorway Police said the motorway will remain closed for “the foreseeable future” due to the incident between J2 for Liverpool Road in Prescot[1] and J3 for Seth Powell Way in Stockbridge Village.[2] The driver of the HGV stopped at the scene and assisted police with their enquiries

Traffic was brought to a stop shortly before 4am on Saturday, April 20. Motorists are being asked to avoid the area and find an alternative route.
