Mum killed in motorway hit and run was about to become a gran
A 'loving mum' killed in a hit-and-run on a major motorway was about to become a grandmother, her heartbroken family has revealed. Lisa Kelsall, 52, died at the scene of the crash on the M6 in Cheshire after being hit by a van that did not stop yesterday morning.
Devastated relatives today said she would be “forever missed”. In a statement released by police, described her as a "loving daughter, mother and grandmother to be" who was taken too soon and would be "forever in our hearts."
Writing on social media, Lisa’s sister added: “Sleep tight now Lisa, you will be forever missed. You really didn’t have to leave us, the pain in our hearts won’t leave us, neither will our memories. You have left us heartbroken."
Lisa’s cousin posted a tribute Facebook[1], describing her as a “beautiful soul” that had been taken from them “too soon". She wrote: “You will live on in all of our hearts."
Cheshire Police said they had responded to concerns for the safety of a woman at 12.15am, between Junction 21 and Junction 21a of the motorway, near Warrington. When officers arrived they found Lisa, from Norton, Stoke-on-Trent, had been struck by a white Citroen Relay van while walking along the M6 to M62 slip road.
She was pronounced dead at the scene at 1.14am despite the best efforts of emergency services to save her life. The driver of the van, a 47-year-old man from Preston, Lancs., had failed to stop at the scene of the collision.
He was later arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has since been released under investigation, police said. Detectives have appealed for anyone who may have dashcam footage to get in touch with them.
They said Lisa had been driving in a white Vauxhall Mokka northbound on the M6 from Staffordshire towards Cheshire prior to the incident.
