Pedestrian suffers serious injuries after being hit by a car near Worcester Park
A pedestrian has suffered serious injuries after being hit by a park in a crash around midnight last night near Epsom[1] (20 April). She is being treated in hospital after being struck by a car in Worcester Park. Their next of kin have been made aware, police said.
The incident happened on the A240 Kingston[2] Road, just after midnight. Following the crash, the driver, who was in a black BMW, stopped at the scene. They are working with police to help with the ongoing inquiry.
Kingston Road remains closed from Tolworth roundabout at the A3 towards Ruxley Lane, drivers should avoid the route. Drivers can access Kingston Road by heading northbound and getting to Worcester Park Road via Cromwell Road and Old Malden Lane. The road remains shut so police can continue with inquiries.
Surrey Police[3] said they are now appealing for witnesses. A spokesperson for the force said: “Officers are currently dealing with a collision in Worcester Park which occurred in the early hours of this morning (20 April). We were called just after midnight following reports of a collision on the A240 Kingston Road at the junction with Worcester Park Road between the driver of a black BMW and a pedestrian.
“The pedestrian has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. Their next of kin have been made aware. The driver stopped at the scene and is helping police with enquiries.
“Road closures remain in place on Kingston Road southbound from the Tolworth roundabout junction at the A3 towards Ruxley Lane, and the junction with Worcester Park Road. There is northbound access on Kingston Road, and diversions onto Worcester Park Road can be gained from Cromwell Road and Old Malden Lane.
