The lorry was stopped safely near Preston with the driver eventually revealed to be nearly three times the drink drive limit, police said.
A spokesperson for police said: “Stopping a 44 ton HGV can be difficult on the motorway. Trying to stop one on the M6 near Preston with a driver nearly three times the drink drive limit is a challenge.

“Calm tactics got it stopped safely without damage or injury. Apologies if you were held in the rolling block.”
