Police Scotland: Man dies after crash with HGV

The incident happened on the A941 at around 4.25pm on Tuesday when a car and a HGV collided near the junction for the A95 at Craigellachie.

A 56-year-old man who was a rear passenger in the Vauxhall Crossland was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and two other passengers were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The driver of the Mercedes HGV was not injured.

The road was closed while crash investigations were carried out and fully reopened on Wednesday morning.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and officers are appealing for information.

Road Policing Sergeant Iain Nicolson said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died and everyone involved in this incident.

“As our enquiries continue, I’d appeal to anyone with information to come forward. I’d be particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened or has dashcam footage of the area around the time.”
