125mph Audi driver caught red-handed after straying into motorway speed camera hotspot

A dangerous driver who treated the M6 like a race track as he reached shocking speeds of 125mph was caught out when he entered a speed camera hotspot. The Audi driver might have thought he would get away with his reckless joyride when he saw no police around but he was mistaken as he was flashed by a speed camera.

It happened while the motorist was passing through one of the major speed camera hotspots in our region. This is on the M6 between between the M54 exit and Junction 10, between Wolverhampton and Walsall[1].

Average speed cameras positioned here catch drivers in some of the highest numbers in the region, with thousands caught out every year, and the Audi driver is among those who have discovered that to their cost. It is among the fastest speeds recorded on our roads by West Midlands Police[2] so far this year.

He was left with no excuses after being clocked by the speed camera located on the busy motorway stretch. The man who was at the wheel could now face a driving ban and court appearance, due to the reckless nature of his offending - approaching double the motorway speed limit.

Details of the incident, which happened in February, were revealed following a freedom of information request to West Midlands Police about the fastest speeds recorded on our roads so far this year. They included other reckless motorists displaying a blatant disregard for the rules of the road and putting others, as well as themselves, in danger.

Other dangerously high speeds recorded included another Audi driver doing 124mph on the M42 between Junctions 4 and 5 in March. While it was the owner of an Audi in trouble yet again for doing 121mph between Junctions 5 and 4 of the M6 in January.
