A14 closed near town due to ‘well alight’ van fire

The A14 is closed in west Suffolk after a van caught fire.

Emergency services were called to the blaze on the eastbound carriageway, between junction 42 and junction 43 near Bury St Edmunds, at about 10.35am on Monday.

Both lanes are currently shut.

A spokesman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said the van is “well alight” and is in a lay-by.

Queues are starting to form in the area, according to the AA Traffic Map.
