Drivers urged to avoid Switch Island after lorry overturns

Drivers have been urged to avoid Switch Island after a lorry overturned.

Emergency services were called to Switch Island on the M58[1] at around 6.30am on Friday, May 31 after reports of a crash involving a yellow lorry. When officers arrived, they found the lorry had overturned.

The driver of the lorry was checked by paramedics at the scene and no one was injured during the incident. There are several road closures in place, including no access to Brooms Cross Road to M57/Dunnings Bridge Road and no access to Dunnings Bridge/Northway from M57.

There is queuing traffic in the area and Merseyside Police[4] previously said the incident was causing “severe delays”. Arriva said there are also two bus diversions, including the 300 service and 310.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police[5] said: “Road closures are in place on the motorway whilst emergency services remain at the scene. Please avoid the area. If you have any information on this incident, please contact @MerPolCC, 101 quoting log 118 of Friday 31 May.”
