Live M11 traffic updates today as crash near Cambridge leaves lanes blocked

A crash on the M11 is causing delays near Cambridge today (Sunday, May 5) after a lorry went into the central reservation. The incident is reported to be affecting traffic in both directions near Junction 12 (Grantchester Road).

The incident was first reported at around 3.45pm. Traffic[1] England currently reports long delays on both the northbound and southbound carriageways.

Speaking to CambridgeshireLive,[2] an eyewitness said: “A lorry that was heading north has gone into the central reservation. The barrier is crumpled for a section that’s probably 70 meters plus I’d guess. The barrier is collapsed on the sound bound side and there is soil spread across the sound bound side. “

A National Highways spokesperson said: “1 lane (of 2) is closed in both directions on the M11[3] between J12 (Cambridge) and J13 due to a collision involving a lorry which has struck the central reservation.

“Recovery has been arranged and is en-route. There’s a 30 minute delay in both ways with four miles of congestion.”
