Lorry driver arrested on suspicion of drug driving after Switch Island crash

A lorry driver was arrested on suspicion of drug driving after a crash.

Emergency services were called to Switch Island on the M58[1] at around 6.30am on Friday, May 31 after reports of a crash involving a yellow lorry. When officers arrived, they found the lorry had overturned.

Merseyside Police have now confirmed a 48-year-old man from Wavertree[2] has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving. There are long delays in the area and there is no access to Brooms Cross Road to M57/Dunnings Bridge Road and no access to Dunnings Bridge Road/Northway from M57.

The driver of the vehicle was checked over by paramedics and no one was injured during the incident. A spokesperson for Merseyside Police urged people to avoid the area while recovery takes place. Arriva also confirmed two bus diversions, including the 300 service and 310.
