Lorry which overturned on A5 shutting road for hours was carrying live chickens

Police have released an update, after an overturned lorry shut a stretch of the A5 for hours yesterday (Monday). Motorists were urged to avoid the area, following the crash between Cerrigydrudion and Corwen. The lorry was understood to have been carrying live chickens.

A North Wales Police[1] statement said: “We were called at 8.31am reporting a single vehicle RTC involving a HGV on the A5 near Cerrigydrudion which had left the road and come to rest on its side. The road was closed until mid afternoon whilst the HGV and its load had been recovered, and the road cleared of debris.”

Yesterday a police statement said: “Can motorists avoid the A5 between Cerrigydrudion and Corwen due to a overturned lorry. This is at the junction with the B4501. Please find an alternative route.”
