Aiyann Akhtar was clocked speeding on the M5 southbound at junction 8 (Strensham Services) near Worcester. The case was heard at Worcester Magistrates Court on May 24.

The 24-year-old of Badminton Road, Winterbourne, Bristol, was captured speeding by an automatic camera device after he exceeded the temporary 60mph limit, imposed because of road works, on August 19.

The defendant, who entered a guilty plea on the day of the court hearing, was behind the wheel of a ‘large goods vehicle’, court records show.

He was fined £183, ordered to pay a surcharge of £73 and costs of £90.

A collection order was made by magistrates which gives the court extra powers to recover the money.

His driving record was also endorsed with three penalty points. The defendant’s guilty plea was taken into account when imposing sentence, leading to a reduction in the fine from £275.
