Man charged over crash which killed seven-year-old William Brown in Folkestone
A man has been charged following a crash which killed a seven-year-old boy in Folkestone[1]. Pedestrian William Brown was pronounced dead at the scene after the collision on the A259 Sandgate Esplanade on December 6.
Kent Police[2] said the crash had involved two vehicles, a grey Peugeot van and a red Citroen car. The van is reported to have left the scene prior to the arrival of emergency services.
A man was arrested on the following day and was subsequently bailed pending further enquiries by the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit. On Saturday (May 11), Stewart Powell, 49, of St Mary’s Bay, was charged with failing to stop following a collision.
