Motorbike and lorry crash on East Lancs Road causing huge delays

Police have issued an update after the East Lancashire Road closed following a crash.

Emergency services were called to the eastbound carriageway between Moorgate Road and the slip road for the M57[1] at around 6.35am on Thursday, May 9. It followed reports of a crash between a motorbike and a lorry. The extent of injuries is currently unknown.

Merseyside Police, Merseyside Fire and Rescue and North West Ambulance Service are all at the scene. The east and westbound carriageway of the East Lancashire Road are currently closed while the incident is being dealt with.

Drivers are being advised by police to avoid the area. There are also several bus diversions in place, including the 19 Stagecoach service to Kirkby[4], which will operate via Copplehouse Lane, Bewley Drive, Valley Road until the road is re opened.

Arriva bus services are also being diverted, including the 899/14x, which will divert via Lower House Lane, Lower Lane, Longmoor Lane, Valley Road, County Road. It will then pick up normal services until the road reopens in both directions.
