Motorcyclist in hospital after Lochwinnoch crash as road closed for over nine hours

A motorcyclist is in hospital following a serious crash[1] on the A760 near Lochwinnoch.

On Friday, May 17, a black Ducati motorbike and a grey Fiat Ducato motorhome were involved in a collision at around 12.20pm on the A760 Lochwinnoch to Kilbirnie Road.

Emergency crew[2] raced to the scene and the male rider of the motorbike, 37, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment to serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the motorhome, a 66-year-old man, was uninjured.

The road was closed for crash investigation work and re-opened over nine hours later around 9.30pm.

Road policing officers are appealing for witnesses and are particularly keen to speak with the driver of a vehicle which was overtaken by the motorbike moments before the incident.

Sergeant Sean Dempsey said: “Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing and we are asking anyone who saw what happened or either of the two vehicles before the crash to get in touch.

“We would be particularly keen to speak with the driver of a vehicle which was overtaken by the motorbike around the time of the crash.

“I would also ask anyone with dash-cam footage that could help with our investigation to contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 1629 of 17 May.
