Police appeal after lorry and motorbike smash shuts Staffordshire road

Police are appealing for witnesses after a crash between a truck and a motorbike shut a Staffordshire road for hours. Officers and paramedics had been called out to the A5 near Muckley Corner, in South Staffordshire, yesterday afternoon.

The smash saw the northbound carriageway stay shut until around 8.25pm. Now Staffordshire Police[1] are appealing for witnesses to the collision to come forward.

Meanwhile West Midlands Ambulance Service[2] say they were called to the scene at 12.15pm.

A spokeswoman said: "One ambulance attended the scene. On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was the motorcyclist. He was treated for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham."

Police want to hear from anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage.

A spokesman said: "A black Suzuki motorbike and a HGV were both involved. The rider of the motorbike, a man, was taken to hospital. His injuries are not deemed to be life-threatening. The driver of the HGV stayed at the scene and has been helping with our enquiries."

Witnesses should call 101 and quote incident 255 of May 1.
