Police have launched an appeal following a ‘life threatening’ crash along the A96 between Forres and Nairn.

Police Scotland are appealing for information following a two-vehicle crash on the A96[2] at the junction with Wester Hardmuir Fruit Farm near Nairn.

The incident happened around 3pm on Tuesday, 28 May, and involved a white Dacia Sandero and a green Renault Master van.

Emergency services attended and an 80-year-old woman, the passenger in the Dacia was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries and her condition is described as life threatening.

The driver, a 79-year-old man, was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness where his condition is described as stable.

The driver of the van, a 57-year-old woman, was not injured, however she was arrested in connection with a road traffic offence.

The road was closed and re-opened around 7.45pm yesterday (Tuesday, May 28).

Sergeant Doug Scott of Highland and Islands road policing said: “Our enquiries to establish what has happened are ongoing and we are appealing for information.

“If you can help then please get in touch. If you have dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation then please also make contact with officers.”
