Police re-issue appeal for info after speed camera cut down
South Wales Police have re-issued an appeal for information after a speed camera was cut down with an angle grinder on Llangyfelach Road in Treboeth at the beginning of May.
A video that shows two hooded men cutting down the speed camera[1] outside the Kings Head pub on Llangyfelach Road in Treboeth went viral across social media.
The video shows one man cutting away at the tall camera with sparks flying from an agle grinder. A second man is seen filming the destruction.
The video ends with the camera toppling onto the road.
Police have now said they are looking for further information about the incident, as well as other damage caused to speed cameras in Clydach and Pontardawe between October 2023 and April 2024.
The force have said that people who pass information to Crimestoppers anonymously may be eligible for up to £1,000 reward upon arrest and charge.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: “We are investigating an incident where people have been seen cutting down a speed camera on Llangyfelach Road, Treboeth, Swansea.
“Anyone who witnessed this incident or who can offer further information is asked to contact us[2] by one of the following means quoting 2400149066.
“We are also investigating damage to speed cameras in Clydach and Pontardawe between October 2023 and April 2024.
“Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers. Individuals who pass information to Crimestoppers anonymously may be eligible for up to £1,000 reward upon arrest and charge.”
