Police release update after car driver died following lorry crash on wrong carriageway of the A1

Lincolnshire Police[1] have issued an update on a fatal crash[2] which involved a car colliding with a lorry on the wrong side of a major road. Officers were called to reports that a grey Dacia Sandero Expression had been travelling south on the A1 by Colsterworth when the vehicle crossed the central reservation and collided with a white lorry travelling on the northbound carriageway on Friday, May 3.

The crash caused significant delays and led to a road closure in both directions for many hours. Police confirmed the morning after the crash that the driver of the Dacia car had died. On Wednesday, May 8, officers said that the driver who died was a 40-year-old man from Doncaster.

Police are still investigating the incident and are asking people with any relevant information to come forward. A spokesperson for the force said: “The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is on-going.
