Two in hospital after Devon crash left roads gridlocked
Two people were taken to hospital after a crash on the A38[1] in Devon. Long delays were reported on the busy road, near Deep Lane, after a crash forced emergency services to close the slip road for around four hours.
Devon and Cornwall Police were called to the scene at around 2pm following reports of a crash between a lorry and a car. A spokesperson for the force confirmed that two people suffered injuries in the collision and were taken to hospital.
Drivers faced heavy congestion in the area, on the A38 and Sherford Road throughout the afternoon. One driver described it as ‘gridlocked’ before the collision cleared and emergency services left the scene at around 6pm.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called around 2pm on Wednesday 29 May following a collision between a lorry and a car on the A38 slip road at Deep Lane, Plympton. Ambulance also attended.
“Two people sustained injuries and were taken to hospital. The slip road was closed and reopened around 6pm.”
