Van flips over on Lancashire road during heavy rain

An accident on a busy Lancashire road saw a van flip over and end up on the grass verge during heavy rain. A driver has suffered minor injuries in the single vehicle accident, Lancashire Police said.

The road was closed on the A675, near Belmont today (Wednesday, May 22) while emergency services attended. A picture captured of the scene shows the vehicle, which has left the road, turned upside down near a tree. The front part of the van is buried in part of the overgrowth.

Large parts of Lancashire[1] have been battling another round of torrential rain and floods today, which will not have helped road conditions. Police, fire and ambulance are all said to have been in attendance.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: “Call came at 5.46pm, only the van involved – tipped over. Driver suffered minor injuries. Happened on A675 Belmont Road.”
