Biker dies after crash involving van in Bewdley

A motorcycle rider has died after a crash involving a van on a main Worcestershire[1] road. The collision took place on the A456, near to where it goes under the Heightington Road bridge in Ribbesford, Bewdley, shortly after 5.30pm on Sunday (June 2).

West Midlands Ambulance Service[2] sent two ambulances, two paramedic officers and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham to the scene. The man on the motorbike was given ‘advanced life support’ at the roadside but died at the scene.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “We were called to the A456, near to the junction with Heightington Road in Ribbesford, Bewdley, at 5.37pm. On arrival we discovered the motorcyclist, a man, in a critical condition.

“Ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support and specialist trauma care at the roadside. However, despite their best efforts it sadly became apparent nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

“The driver of the van was assessed and discharged without needing to be taken to hospital.”

West Mercia Police said the A456 was closed between Blackstone and Wharton Park Golf Club but opened some seven hours later, at around 10.30pm.
