The crash, which is understood to have involved three vehicles, happened at Junction 26 at Hillington.

Cops quickly locked down two lanes of the eastbound carriageway after the collision, sparking huge delays.

But as TRISS crews arrived, one lane of the westbound carriageway had to be locked down.

This was due to debris from the vehicles landing on the other side of the motorway after the crash.

police[2] were all spotted at the scene this evening.

Photos from the scene show a large white motor severely damaged with the bumper ripped off.

The wheel and bonnet also suffered extensive damage as a result of the crash.

It appeared as though it had crashed into the barrier between the two carriageways, as that lay buckled on the motorway.

The car’s passenger side door and window were also heavily damaged as it took most of the impact from the barrier.
