Live: Air ambulance lands on M5 due to ‘serious’ lorry crash
An air ambulance has landed on the M5 following a serious lorry crash this morning (Friday, June 28). There are currently long tailbacks as traffic has been stopped between junction 25 and 24 at Taunton.
Roads and traffic monitoring site Inrix first reported the crash at 6.50am. It said: “All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to accident, a lorry involved on M5 Northbound from J25 A358 (Taunton) to J24 A38 Taunton Road (Bridgwater South).”
National Highways has warned motorists of long delays. It said: “The M5 in Somerset is closed northbound between J25 (Taunton) and J24 (Bridgwater) due to a serious collision involving a vehicle that has collided with a bridge.
“Traffic has been stopped on the southbound carriageway to allow the Air Ambulance to land and attend the scene safely.”
It is not currently known how many vehicles are involved, or if anyone has suffered any injuries. Emergency services have been contacted for further information.
