Live: Crash closes A358 in Somerset with long delays

A main A-road in Somerset was closed after a crash this afternoon[1], Tuesday, June 4. The A358 Pen Elm Hill was shut in both directions between Fitzroy and Norton Fitzwarren, according to traffic monitor Inrix.

Delays were reported in both directions and Google Maps repots heavy congestion in the area. Traffic is particularly heavy between Taunton Road and the Otter Garden Centre. A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said the collision involved a van and a car.

Inrix reports: “A358 Pen Elm Hill in both directions closed, delays due to accident between Montys Lane (Fitzroy) and Haig Road (Norton Fitzwarren).”

According to Inirx, the road cleared shortly before 6pm: “Accident cleared on A358 Pen Elm Hill in both directions between Cotford St Luke turning ( Bishops Lydeard ) and Haig Road ( Norton Fitzwarren ). Sensors indicate the road has reopened.”
