Live: M5 lane closure causes traffic congestion near Bristol

A fuel spillage following a collision between a car and a van caused long delays on the M5 near Bristol this afternoon, Monday, June 10. There were severe delays heading northbound but also congestion on the southbound carriageway as people slowed down to look at the crash.

According to traffic monitoring site Inrix, the crash took place near junction 20 for Clevedon[1]. It was first reported at 12pm. The incident had cleared and traffic had begun to easy by 4pm.

Inrix reported: "Queueing traffic and one lane closed due to accident on M5 northbound near J20 B3133 Ettlingen Way (Clevedon)."
