M1 speed camera captures driver at 81mph southbound | This is Oxfordshire

Alistair Thompson, of Weirs Lane, Oxford[1], was caught on November 20 last year speeding on the M1 near Wakefield.

The 59-year-old was caught by an automatic speed camera travelling between junctions 41 and 40 southbound exceeding the 70mph speed limit.

He was recorded as driving at a speed of 81mph.

Thompson was charged under the Road Traffic Offenders Act and appeared at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court on June 4 where he pleaded guilty.

The driver was fined £40 for the offence and had three penalty points added to his driving record.

There were also court costs of £90 and a victim surcharge of £16.

The total amount is £146.
