M1 speed camera catches driver over 70mph: Fined in court | This is Oxfordshire

Amanda Gornall, of East Street, Bicester[1], was caught on October 21 last year speeding on the M1.

The 32-year-old was caught on the motorway between junctions 13 and 16 northbound, exceeding the 60mph speed limit.

She was recorded as driving 70mph by an automatic speed camera. She was then charged by The Crown Prosecution Service.

At Northampton Magistrates’ Court on May 14, Gornall pleaded guilty and was fined £79. She also had three penalty points added to her driving record.

There were also court costs of £90 and a victim surcharge of £31.

The total amount that Gornall will need to pay is £200 by the middle of this month.

On the same motorway, a second driver was also caught speeding.

Sarah Notman, of Cozens Lane, Kingham, Chipping Norton, was caught on November 12 last year speeding on the M1 between junctions 32 and 35 southbound.

The 45-year-old was caught driving at 65mph in a 50mph speed limit zone by an automatic speed camera.

At Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on May 2, she pleaded guilty to the offence and was fined £124. Three penalty points was also added to her driving record.

There were court costs of £90 and a victim surcharge of £49.

The total amount she needs to pay is £263.
