Motorists advised of delays on A9 at Dalwhinnie after accident involving lorry

The A9 is restricted this afternoon as a result of a crash by Dalwhinnie.

It happened at 12.42pm on the stretch just south of the village after the turn off for the A889.

It is understood that one person has been taken to hospital after the collision between a lorry and a car.

Both police and ambulance services were called to the scene of the accident and one patient has been taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

Traffic Scotland is advising that both north and southbound directions are affected by the incident

The details of which are still awaited but it is understood that a lorry and a car were involved in a collision.

Traffic Scotland stated: “The A9 at Dalwhinnie is currently restricted in both directions due to a road traffic incident. Road users are advised to take caution on approach and allow extra time for their journey.”

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said that three local applicances and two others, including a heavy-lifting unit, were despatched to the scene.

They have now all been recalled.

Traffic Scotland has reiterated in the last few minutes that both north and southbound carriages are currently restricted.

They advise: “Road users are advised to take caution on approach and allow extra time for their journey.”
