Roads closed after car hits pedestrian

Roads have been closed after a car struck a pedestrian in a town in Northumberland.

Emergency services attended the crash on the A696 in Ponteland near its junction with North Road at about 11:35 BST, Northumbria Police said.

It is not yet known the extent of any injuries.

Drivers are being urged to avoid the area as an investigation continues.
