Two drivers in horror Glasgow M8 multi-vehicle crash rushed to hospital

Two drivers were rushed to hospital yesterday evening following a multi-vehicle crash on Glasgow’s M8.

Emergency services[1] scrambled to J26 at Hillington eastbound at around 7.25pm after the accident which involved two cars and a van. The Scottish Fire and Rescue service were also in attendance.

The road was closed for around two hours while one male driver was charged in connection with road traffic offences and is due to appear in court at a later date.

Two male drivers were blue-lighted to the Queen Elizabeth University hospital – their current condition is unknown.

Speaking to Glasgow Live, an eyewitness said: “There’s been a really bad accident on the M8 just before Braehead heading east. There’s three vehicles involved, it’s a big smash up.

“It’s the worst crash I’ve seen in a while, the front of the car was crushed.”

A recent statement from Police Scotland reads: “We received a report of a crash involving two cars and a van on the M8 eastbound at junction 26, around 7.25pm on Wednesday, 19 June, 2024.

“Emergency services attended and two male drivers were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

“The road was closed for around two hours.

“One male driver was charged and reported in connection with road traffic offences and is due to appear in court at a later date.”
