A6 live updates as lorry fire closes main road on Peak District border
A lorry fire closed a main road through a village on the Peak District[1] border earlier this afternoon. The A6 High Hallsteads was closed in both directions Dove Holes from Batham Gate to the A623 after the fire, which was reported at around midday on Monday, July 29.
Traffic maps, provided by Google, showed queues of nearly two miles building on either side of the village, which lies around three miles to the north of Buxton[2]. Inrix released a short statement following the fire, warning of “slow traffic” building in the area.
A spokesperson for the traffic monitoring service said: “The A6 Higher Hallsteads is closed in both directions from Batham Gate to the A623. This is due to a lorry fire which has left the road closed in both directions. Slow traffic is building in the area.”
