LIVE updates as busy road closed after crash with major emergency response
Emergency services rushed to the scene of a crash near Thornton this morning. The crash, which involved three vehicles, shut Broom’s Cross Road near Thornton on Friday (July 26).
Merseyside Police were called to the scene on the A5758 at around 7.40am on Friday after a Ford Focus, Vauxhall Vivaro van and Fiat Doblo van crashed, shutting the busy road in both directions this morning rush-hour. Police vehicles and a fire engine were at the scene.
The road remains partially blocked in both directions, with slow traffic on the approach, at B5422 Brickwall Lane. No injuries were initially reported by police.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We were called to Brooms Cross Road at around 7.40am to reports of a three-vehicle RTC, involving a Ford Focus, Vauxhall Vivaro van and Fiat Doblo van, no serious injuries have been reported and enquiries are ongoing at the scene.
