Lorry driver ‘paralytically drunk’ behind the wheel as police called to ‘multiple crashes’
A lorry driver was ‘taken to the cells’ after allegedly being found ‘paralytically drunk’ behind the wheel. Police were called to ‘reports of multiple road traffic collisions’ in Stafford, with the HGV allegedly ‘at fault’.
The driver ‘refused to provide a sample of breath’ at the scene, according to Staffordshire[1] Police’s roads policing unit. The team took to X on Monday evening (July 22) to share a photograph of the lorry surrounded by police cars on Lichfield[2] Road.
An accompanying post read: “Reports of multiple RTCs with this HGV at fault @PoliceStafford. Intercepted and the driver paralytically drunk.”
The post continued: “Refused to provide a sample of breath roadside and now on his way to the cells. We shall be looking to remand him before the courts tomorrow morning.”
