M5 miles of queues as motorway closed after lorry fire

There are long queues on the M5 this morning after an HGV burst into flames. The motorway in Somerset is closed between junction 23 for Bridgwater and junction 22 for Burnham-on-Sea.[1]

According to National Highways, there is over three miles of queuing traffic on the approach to the scene. Traffic cameras show long queues of stationery traffic on the M5.

Traffic monitoring site Inrix says: “All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to vehicle fire on M5 Northbound from J23 A39 (Bridgwater North) to J22 (Burnham-on-sea). Traffic has been held since around 09:40.”
