Mobile speed cameras catch 208 drivers on six county roads in a month

Dozens of motorists fell foul of mobile speed cameras as they drove around Gloucestershire during a month of enforcement. The cameras had been deployed at six sites across the county, including a stretche of the A417[1].

Figures released for May (the most recent statistics available) showed that 208 offences were detected by the mobile cameras. The worst road was the B4070 at Birdlip with 84 speeders.

There were also 58 offences on the Whelford Road in Whelford, near Fairford. Other roads with a high number of speeders included Taits Hill Road in Stinchcombe (29) and the A417 at Maisemore.

The Camera Enforcement Team are deployed across sites to remind drivers about their behaviour and to enforce the law against those driving at excessive speed. The mobile speed detection vans operate at over 80 sites across the county and prioritise site activity by examining speed and accident data including intelligence received from communities.
