Motorcyclist dies after crash with Citroen van

A motorcyclist died after a crash with a Citroen van. The collision took place at around 10.10am yesterday (Saturday, July 27).

Emergency services rushed to the A342 Monument Hill, near Devizes in Wiltshire, but the motorcyclist – a man in his 60s from Melksham – sadly died at the scene. The A342 was closed between Upavon and Monument as investigation work took place.

Wiltshire Police said: “A motorcyclist has sadly died following a collision near Devizes. Emergency services were called at approximately 10.10am today (27/7) to the A342 Monument Hill following a report of a collision involving a motorbike and a Citroen van

“Sadly, the motorcyclist – a man in his 60s from Melksham – died at the scene. His next of kin has been informed and our thoughts are with his family at this time. The driver of the van involved was uninjured.

“A road closure was put in place on the A342 between Upavon and Monument whilst the incident was dealt with and investigations were carried out.

“Any witnesses to the collision should call 101 and quote log number 114 of July 27. Alternatively, email [email protected][1].”
