Motorcyclist lay dead for up to nine hours after his bike smashed tree in horror accident
A young motorcyclist may have been lying dead for up to nine hours after his bike struck a tree[1] on a rural road.
The smash happened on the A413 in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, some time between 10.30pm last Wednesday and 7am on Thursday. It is believed the lifeless 28-year-old, named locally as Brandon, was found by a passer-by on Thursday morning but police are appealing for witness to establish the full chronology. Brandon, who was from Great Missenden, had been reported missing earlier that day.
A spokesman for Thames Valley Police[2] said: “We are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Great Missenden, Bucks.”Sometime between 10.30pm last Wednesday and 7am on Thursday, a silver Suzuki R 600 motorcycle collided with a tree on the A413 between the Frith Hill roundabout and the Church Lane overbridge.
“Sadly, the rider, a 28-year-old man from Great Missenden, died at the scene. The man’s next of kin have been informed and they are being supported by specialist officers.”
A61 crash: Two young sisters among six people killed in horror crash with car and motorbike[3]
Investigating officer Sergeant Richard Martin, of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, said: “We are investigating following this collision in which a man has sadly died.
“We would ask anyone who saw the motorbike after 10.20pm on Wednesday into the early hours on Thursday to come forward. Also, if you were driving along the A413 around the time of the collision and have a dash-cam, please check your recording in case it has captured something that could assist us. You can send footage to us via this dedicated online portal. If you have information please provide it through our online reporting form or by calling 101.”
Police have not yet named the rider. A post mortem examination has been carried out on his body to ascertain the exact cause of his death and an inquest will be opened and adjourned by the Buckinghamshire coroner, Crispin Butler.
The tragedy comes after two motorcyclists were among six people killed after their bike collided with a car[4] on a rural road in Yorkshire on the weekend. Husband and wife Christopher and Janine Barton, aged 56 and 48 respectively, were described as “a loving, caring mum and dad” by their grief-stricken son today.
