Police car involved in horror Glasgow M8 crash as four rushed to hospital
A police car was involved in a horror three-vehicle crash on the M8 in Glasgow which has left four people hospitalised – including two officers.
The eastbound[1] stretch of the busy motorway remains closed at junction 13 near Provan Interchange following the crash which took place at around 1pm on Wednesday, July 24.
Emergency services, including police[2], firefighters and paramedics scrambled to the scene. Pictures show multiple emergency service personnel in attendance and a vehicle left wrecked in the incident.
Police Scotland have confirmed four people have been rushed to hospital including two officers who were on-duty.
The force has urged motorists to ‘avoid the area’ with diversions in place.
They said: “The M8 in Glasgow is closed eastbound at J13 following a three-vehicle crash, including a police car, which happened around 1.10pm on Wednesday, 24 July.

“Emergency services attended and two people were taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and two to Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Two of those were on-duty police officers.
“Local diversions are in place and road users are advised to avoid the area.”
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call today at 1312 hours to attend a road traffic collision on the M8.
“We dispatched two rapid response units, a critical care paramedic, three ambulances, our trauma team and our special operations team.
“We transported two patients to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and two patients to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.”
