Video shows aftermath of A38 crash which caused long delays
This video shows the aftermath of a major crash on the A38[1] which left the dual carriageway in Plymouth blocked this evening.. Police and firefighters blocked off lane with traffic cones due to a three-vehicle crash at the St Budeaux[2] Junction.
Devon and Cornwall Police[3] were called shortly after 5pm for a three-vehicle collision. All vehicles have now been recovered but as seen from the video, highways are still assisting with oil on the road surface.
Footage taken shortly after the incident shows a campervan and another van stricken in the outside lane of the carriageway surrounded by emergency service vehicles.
People with minor injuries were treated at the scene, according to police. National Highways said traffic was being diverted on to the exit slip road and rejoining the main carriageway via traffic management without exiting the A38. All lanes have since reopened.
There are currently 20-minute delays and approximately 1 mile of congestion. Google Maps is showing very slow traffic in that area.
Traffic site Inrix has reported: “A38 Expressway Westbound blocked, delays due to accident at B3413 (St Budeaux Junction).” For further updates, follow our live blog here.[6]
