Worcester driver caught speeding on M5 thanks to ‘temporary speed limit’

Jamie Price was fined for speeding on the M5 southbound near junction 8 (Strensham) when the case was heard at Worcester Magistrates Court on Wednesday, July 3.

The 36-year-old of Mercia Way, Kempsey, near Worcester was caught exceeding the temporary 60mph restriction on a motorway, imposed due to road works, by an automatic camera device on October 31 last year.

A guilty plea was recorded via the single justice procedure on May 16.

Price was fined £81 and ordered to pay costs of £110 and a victim surcharge of £32.

A collection order was made, giving the court extra powers to recover the money.

Price’s driving record endorsed with three points. The defendant was told his guilty plea was taken into account when magistrates imposed their sentence. This was reflected by the fine being reduced from £122.
