Driver FINED after being caught speeding on busy Oxfordshire road

Benjamin Smith, of The Green, Garsington, was caught on November 9 last year speeding on the A40 northern-by-pass.

The 30-year-old was caught exceeding the 50 miles per hour speed limit on an automatic speed camera. His recorded speed was 65 miles per hour.

Smith was charged under the Road Traffic Offenders Act and appeared at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on July 23 where he pleaded guilty.

The driver was fined £230 and had three penalty points added to his driving record.

There were also court costs of £90 and a victim surcharge of £92.

He avoided disqualification due to his employee and his partner not driving.
