Driver taken to hospital after crash with lorry on A31
The A31 eastbound remains closed between A349 Merley and B3073 Little Canford following the two-vehicle collision.
One person in an Audi has been taken to hospital by the police with minor injuries and the driver of the lorry was uninjured.
The vehicles were recovered and the road reopened at 11am.
Our reporter Andy Jones who is currently stuck in the traffic said: “Traffic has barely moved in 30 minutes and there doesn’t seem to be any traffic moving in the other direction”
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We received a report at 7.43am today of a collision involving a car and a lorry on the A31 Wimborne Bypass near to the Merley Roundabout.”
Emergency services remain on the scene, and it was previously reported that there was approximately 1.5 miles of congestion with drivers warned to expect extra travel time.
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 7.50am on Tuesday, August 6, to a road traffic collision near Wimborne Minster.
“We sent two double-crewed land ambulances to the scene.”
